Emerge Digital CEO Nigel Church has unveiled a new executive leadership team as the Gloucestershire technology business enters its next stage of growth.
The changes come after the managed service provider reported a 40% increase in turnover over the past 12 months, taking revenue to £4.5 million.
Its workforce has also grown to 24 people, while the number of users supported by the business has increased by 30% during the same period.
Church remains CEO and will be joined on the executive leadership team by Tom Henson, who moves from managing director to chief operating officer, and chief revenue officer Mark Atkinson, the former professional rugby player who joined Emerge Digital in 2024.
Mel Cheeseman has been appointed chief experience officer, bringing more than 35 years of experience across leadership, business operations and marketing.
Phil Waters has also joined as fractional chief financial officer. Waters previously served as managing director of Croft MSP, where he built a £40 million business.
The expanded leadership team will oversee Emerge Digital’s next phase, with a particular focus on emerging technology, automation, cybersecurity and developing new services around changing client requirements.
Cheeseman will work alongside newly appointed head of innovation Steve Brady, with the pair helping to develop the company’s AI strategy, service offering and client experience.
Emerge Digital has increasingly focused on AI implementation for small and mid-sized businesses over the past two years.
As part of that work, the company is preparing to launch its CPD-certified OnyxAI ‘Human in the Loop’ programme, designed to help organisations introduce AI using a people-led approach focused on safe and sustainable adoption.
The business is also developing its cybersecurity capabilities through an ongoing partnership with Cardiff-based MSP PureCyber.
Expansion into South Wales is another part of its growth strategy, where existing clients include national brewery SA Brains. The operation is headed by sales director Alex Cuthbert, the former Wales international and British and Irish Lions rugby player.
The leadership changes follow Emerge Digital becoming a certified B Corporation earlier this year.
Nigel Church, CEO said: “When I look at our executive team, where they’ve come from and what their capabilities are, I truly believe it’s a team capable of delivering on our ambitions of becoming one of the leading managed services and technology partners nationally.
“It’s not just their experience either, they genuinely care. They are all people-centric individuals, and everything they do has our clients and our team at its heart. That’s the culture we’ve got within the business, and each appointment has been made with these principles firmly in mind.
“Our new executive structure is designed to ensure the service and support we are well known for is maintained through our next phase of growth. The future is looking incredibly bright, and I can’t wait to see what our whole Emerge Digital team is able to deliver for our clients over the coming years.”
